Durban City have officially appointed Sinethemba Badela as their new head coach.

The appointment brings to an end rumours that City were looking to rope in Ernst Middendorp as head coach.

Badela takes over from Gavin Hunt who was sacked despite doing well to keep Durban City in the top eight bracket.

Badela himself, was fired by Chippa United a few games into the current campaign as the results were not forthcoming.

In a statement released on Thursday, Durban City said Badela brings with him a modern and progressive approach to the game.

DURBAN CITY REPLACE GAVIN HUNT WITH BADELA

BADELA’S EXPERIENCE

Badela made a name for himself whilst at the now defunct Cape Town All Stars before moving to Mamelodi Sundowns.

At Sundowns, the 35-year-old mentor was coaching the club’s DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team.

He then dumped Sundowns to follow Rulani Mokwena to Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club.

Badela returned to the country after Mokwena was sacked by Wydad, and Chippa United snatched him.
