AFCON 2025: Kylian Mbappe arrives in Morocco to support friend

France superstar Kylian Mbappe arrived in Rabat on Thursday to watch Friday’s AFCON match between Morocco and Mali.

Real Madrid and France superstar Kylian Mbappe has joined a long list of high-profile individuals to attend the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Mbappe is currently in Morocco to support his friend and former teammate Achraf Hakimi.

The two stars played together at PSG, and while Mbappe left to join Real Madrid, their friendship never ended.

Mbappe has taken with him his parents and younger Brother Ethan, according to French publication L’Equipe.

Morocco take on Mali in their second AFCON match but Hakimi will not feature as he’s currently injured.

Kick-off is at 22:00 South African time.

KYLIAN MBAPPE GRACES AFCON 2025 WITH HIS PRESENCE

“Kylian Mbappé, star of Real Madrid and the French national team, arrived in Rabat with his family on Thursday afternoon. He will attend the Morocco-Mali match on Friday (9 p.m.),” reports the publication.

“He couldn’t refuse the invitation from his friend Achraf Hakimi, nor the call of a country he knows well. Accompanied by his parents and his younger brother Ethan, Kylian Mbappé arrived in Rabat on Thursday afternoon. They will attend the Morocco-Mali match on Friday evening (9 p.m.) at the Moulay-Abdallah Stadium.”

WHICH OTHER HIGH-PROFILE FIGURES ARE IN MOROCCO?

Former Real Madrid star and coach Zinedine Zidane was in attendance as Algeria beat Sudan 3-0 in their opening AFCON match.

This was to show support to his son and Algerian goalkeeper Luca Zidane who was making his debut at AFCON.

Furthermore, Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou is also in Morocco to watch the tournament.

As reported by SA People, Ouaddou is not only there to show support to his Pirates players but he also threw his weight behind Bafana Bafana.
