Soweto Derby: Kaizer Chiefs to face Orlando Pirates at Ellis Park
The Ellis Park Stadium will host Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates for the first time since the 2001 tragedy where 43 fans lost their lives.
Kaizer Chiefs legends will face Orlando Pirates in a Soweto Derby before the real one at Ellis Park Stadium.
The match organised by Puzzle Pictures will played on Saturday, 7 February at the ‘Stadium of Pain’.
According to a statement released by Chiefs, the winners of this Soweto Derby will face an international legends team in April 2026.
And this certainly means there will be no room for error when these legends relives the memories of yesteryear.
Kaizer Chiefs will be represented by the likes of Morgan Gould and Thuso Phala among others with Thabo Mooki as their coach.
Orlando Pirates have the likes of former skipper Lucky Lekgwathi and Lehlohonolo Majoro who also turned out for Chiefs during his playing days.

WHEN IS THE REAL SOWETO DERBY?
This year’s real Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates is scheduled for Saturday, 28 February.
Kick-off at FNB Stadium is scheduled for 15:30.
The two teams – Pirates and Chiefs – have been doing well as they sit second and third respectively on the log.
