Cape Town’s vibrant event scene
Discover the best Cape Town events! From Kirstenbosch beats to Cape Town 10s gees, here is your guide to the city’s vibrant 2026 season.
Hey there, fellow South Africans! Whether you’re living abroad and feeling a bit of FOMO, or you’re lucky enough to be touching down in the Mother City soon, you are in for a serious treat.
Cape Town is buzzing right now with a line-up that reminds us all why this city is consistently voted one of the best in the world. From the lush greenery of the mountain slopes to the high-octane energy of the sports fields, here is the lowdown on the Cape Town events that are currently on the calendar.
Sunset beats at Kirstenbosch
There is nothing quite like the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts to make you feel patriotic. This season’s roster is looking stellar, featuring a mix of local legends and international acts. It’s the ultimate Sunday afternoon vibe: packing a picnic basket with some biltong and local cheese, finding a spot on the grass, and watching the sun dip behind the mountain as the music kicks in.
The 2026 line-up is packed with talent, including the soul-stirring voice of Vusi Mahlasela on 22 February and the indie-pop anthems of Matthew Mole on 8 March. To close out an incredible season, look forward to the iconic Thandiswa Mazwai on 15 March and the heartfelt pop melodies of Will Linley on 22 March.
To make sure you’re part of the crowd, ensure you book your tickets through the official Webtickets portal. Official prices for standard shows are generally set between R255 and R360, so don’t be fooled by inflated rates on third-party sites.
Tackling the fun at the Cape Town 10s
For those who prefer a bit of sweat and gees with their entertainment, the Cape Town events on the horizon have you covered on the sports front. The Cape Town 10s series is officially around the corner, taking over the Green Point Cricket Ground on 6 and 7 February 2026.
It has grown into so much more than just a rugby tournament; it is a massive social festival where you’ll find rugby, netball, dodgeball, cricket and even padel.
The atmosphere is electric, the fancy dress outfits are legendary, and with music stages featuring acts like Kurt Darren, the beer garden is the place to be once the final whistles blow. Tickets are available via Quicket, starting from approximately R125 for kids and R250 for adults.
Centre stage and international stars
If the stage is more your scene, the Mother City’s theaters are currently serving up world-class drama and music. The Baxter Theatre Centre is hosting the much-loved musical comedy Colleen The Musical through 7 February. Later in the month, look out for Zakes Mda’s moving two-hander And The Girls In Their Sunday Dresses, which runs from 13 February to 7 March.
Meanwhile, ballet and musical lovers can head to the Artscape for a variety of upcoming highlights:
- Pratibha Singh Baghel – Encore: A concert spanning Bollywood and classical styles on 31 January.
- Dracula: David Nixon’s ballet adaptation of the gothic classic runs from 13 to 29 March.
- Pretty Woman – The Musical: The stage adaptation of the iconic film makes its debut from 18 March to 19 April.
On the concert front, global artists are hitting the Grand Arena at GrandWest. April will see the legendary Bryan Adams bringing his tour to town, while fans can also look forward to international singer-songwriter RY X making his Cape Town debut soon. From intimate acoustic sessions to massive stadium shows, the variety is incredible.
It truly is a fantastic time to be in the city. There is an energy in the air that you just can’t find anywhere else. Which of these Cape Town events are you most excited about?
