The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms forecast to batter several South African provinces
SEVERE WEATHER ALERTS
IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS
Yellow Level 2 Warning: Severe Thunderstorms leading to localised flooding and large amounts of small hail is expected over the north eastern parts of Northern Cape, western parts of the North West and Free State, the southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal, as well as the Eastern Cape except in the south-west.
FIRE DANGER WARNINGS
A. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over ZF Mgcawu District Municipality in the Northern Cape as well as Jozini,Nongoma,Big S Hlabisa and Mtubatuba Local Municipalities in the KwaZulu-Natal.
ADVISORIES
Hot and humid weather will result in extremely uncomfortable conditions in places along the eastern cape’s south coast and adjacent interior as well as the eastern parts of Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Gauteng
Gauteng can expect partly cloudy and warm but hot in the north.

Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga, the Place of the Rising Sun, can expect cloudy with drizzle along the escarpment in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, but hot in places in the Lowveld.
Limpopo
In Limpopo, cloudy with drizzle along the southern escarpment in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, but hot in the Lowveld and souht-west.
North West
North West, known as Bokone Bophirima in Setswana, can expect partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers except in the far east.
Free State
In Free State, partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east otherwise scattered.
Northern Cape
The day will start partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east, but fine in the north-west. The wind along the coast will be Light and variable, becoming moderate south-westerly from the afternoon.
Western Cape
Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers, except in the west. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly.
The expected UVB sunburn index is Very High
Eastern Cape
The Western half: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated thundershowers over interior, but scattered in the north. The wind along the coast will be light and variable in the morning and evening, otherwise moderate south easterly.
The Eastern half: The day will start cloudy at first, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly.
KwaZulu-Natal
Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot but very hot in places in the north-east. Scattered showers and thundershowers are expected in the south, otherwise isolated except in the north. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate northerly to north-easterly, reaching fresh in places in the afternoon.
