Orlando Pirates have announced a new five-year deal with their official kit and apparel sponsor Adidas.

The two brands have been working together for 30 years, dating back to 1996 when Pirates abandoned Umbro.

This is undoubtedly the longest partnership between a club and a kit and apparel supplier in the PSL history.

Now, with the new five-year deal in place, this means the relationship between Pirates and Adidas will at least last for 35 years.

Pirates chairman Dr Irvin Khoza said their relationship with Adidas is built on mutual trust, shared values and a collective ambition to grow the club’s brand across the world.

“Our relationship with Adidas transcends that of a traditional sponsor. It is a partnership built on mutual trust, shared values, and a collective ambition to grow the Orlando Pirates brand beyond borders,” said Dr Khoza in a statement.

“Reaching 30 years together is a rare achievement in world sport, and this renewal reflects our confidence in continuing this journey side by side,” he concluded.

BUCS MARKETING DEPARTMENT DOING THE MOST

It appears the Orlando Pirates marketing department is doing the most in ensuring that the club is in good hands.

The new Adidas deal comes just weeks after Pirates and Amstel joined forces to rebrand the Orlando Stadium.

The stadium is now known as the Orlando Amstel Arena, after the beer company took over from Carling Black Label in 2025.
