The South African Weather Service has issued an Orange Level 5 warning for severe thunderstorms, cautioning that heavy downpours, strong winds, and possible localised flooding may affect parts of the country.

Gauteng
Gauteng can expect partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga, the Place of the Rising Sun, can expect morning fog along the escarpment and Highveld, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.
Limpopo
In Limpopo, morning fog along the northern escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the north. It will be hot in places.
North West
North West, known as Bokone Bophirima in Setswana, can expect fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east.
Free State
In Free State, morning fog in the east, otherwise fine, warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers in the extreme east.
Northern Cape
The day will start partly cloudy and warm to hot, but cool over the southern parts, becoming fine from the late afternoon. The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to south-easterly, becoming fresh in the north fromthe afternoon.
Western Cape
Cloudy and cool to warm with a chance of light rain and showers in the west and southern parts, becoming fine in the west from the late afternoon. The wind along the coast will be moderate north-westerly to westerly, becoming fresh to strong along the south, otherwise moderate to fresh south-westerly in the west.
The expected UVB sunburn index is Very High
Eastern Cape
The Western half: Morning fog in places over the interior, otherwise fine and cool to warm. It will become cloudy with isolated showers and rain in the south from late morning, but scattered along the coast west of Gqeberha. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southwesterly, becoming strong in the evening.
The Eastern half: The day will start with morning fog in places over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm. It will become cloudy with isolated showers and rain south of the escarpment from the afternoon, but scattered along the coast and adjacent interior. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate westerly, but light south-easterly in the afternoon.
KwaZulu-Natal
Morning fog over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but hot in the north-east with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southerly to south-easterly becoming moderate north-easterly from the south in the afternoon.
