Here’s the weather outlook for South Africa’s nine provinces.
The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms, cautioning that heavy downpours, strong winds, hail, excessive lightning, and possible localised flooding may affect parts of the country.

Weather conditions and UVB forecast in South Africa’s provinces
Gauteng
Gauteng can expect cloudy at first, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index is High
Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga, the Place of the Rising Sun, can expect cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the Lowveld.
Limpopo
In Limpopo, cloudy and cool but warm in places with scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread in the northern Lowveld.
North West
North West, known as Bokone Bophirima in Setswana, can expect cloudy in the east, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but hot in the southwest, with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the northeast.
Free State
In Free State, cloudy with morning fog patches in the east, otherwise fine to partly cloudy and warm but hot in the west. Isolated showers and rain are expected in the extreme north and eastern parts.
Northern Cape
The day will start cool along the coast, otherwise fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy in the east from the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers in the extreme northeast. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.
Western Cape
Fine and cool to warm, becoming partly cloudy over the south-western parts from the evening. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly, but easterly along the south coast in the morning.
The expected UVB sunburn index is Very high
Eastern Cape
The Western half: Fine and warm. The wind along the coast will be light north-easterly, becoming light to moderate south-westerly.
The Eastern half: The day will start with fog patches in the morning, otherwise fine and warm. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly.
KwaZulu-Natal
Morning fog over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but cool in the south-west. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in the north and west. The wind along the coast will be southerly to south-easterly in the north at first, otherwise moderate to fresh easterly to north-easterly spreading to the north in the evening.
