FIFA World Cup: Bafana Bafana could be without key defender
The Bafana Bafana technical team could be forced to look elsewhere for a central defender ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Bafana Bafana could be without FCSB defender Siyabonga Ngezana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in June.
Ngezana picked up a recurring knee injury in February, and he was expected to be back within six weeks.
However, as reported on SA People, the 28-year-old has refused to undergo surgery on the knee.

FIFA WORLD CUP: A GOOD OR A BAD DECISION BY NGEZANA?
Ngezana’s decision to refuse to undergo surgery could be both good and bad depending on where one stands.
Perhaps, the lanky defender feels it could take even longer than expected for his knee to heal properly before the FIFA World Cup.
Ngezana had been playing with a bandaged knee for months now, even when he was called up to the Bafana Bafana squad.
Now, the other scenario is that Ngezana could be benched for the remainder of the season if the FCSB medical team believes he would be risking his career.
If that happens then Hugo Broos will be left with no choice but to overlook Ngezana when he picks his squad for the FIFA World Cup.

HERE’S WHAT FCSB PRESIDENT SAID ABOUT NGEZANA
“We cannot force a footballer to accept an intervention, if he believes he should not accept it,” said Stoica as per Fanatik.
“We cannot do something like that. We have no way. What do we do, tie him to the bed?”
