Here’s the weather outlook for South Africa’s nine provinces.

The South African Weather Service has issued a heatwave conditions advisory, stating that persistently high temperatures are expected across South Africa until Friday.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the extreme western parts of the country

ADVISORIES

Heat wave conditions with persistently high temperatures are expected to continue over the western parts of the Namakwa District, as well as the west and south-western parts of the Western Cape, spreading to the Little Karoo, Central Karoo and Garden Route Districts, further spreading into the Eastern Cape (excluding the extreme north and the extreme east) from Tuesday until Friday (10-13/03/2026).

Gauteng

Gauteng can expect partly cloudy and cool to warm.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index is High

Mpumalanga

Mpumalanga, the Place of the Rising Sun, can expect fine in the west, otherwise cloudy and warm with morning drizzle along the escarpment. Isolated showers and rain along the Lowveld and northern escarpments can be expected from the afternoon.

Limpopo

In Limpopo, cloudy with morning drizzle along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east and central.

North West

North West, known as Bokone Bophirima in Setswana, can expect Fine and warm, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon.

Free State

In Free State, Cloudy with fog in the east at first, otherwise fine and warm, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon.

Northern Cape

The day will start fine and warm to hot but very hot to extremely hot in places over the western parts, becoming partly cloudy over the north-eastern parts from the afternoon, spreading to the southern parts in the evening. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly, reaching strong at times from the afternoon.

Western Cape

Partly cloudy and warm with morning fog patches in the south, otherwise fine and very hot to extremely hot, but hot over the south-western parts. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong easterly to south-easterly, but moderate southerly along the west.

The expected UVB sunburn index is Very High

Eastern Cape

The Western half: Cloudy with fog patches in places, otherwise sunny and warm but hot over the western interior. The wind along the coast will be light north-easterly in the morning, otherwise moderate to fresh easterly.

The Eastern half: The day will start cloudy with fog patches in the morning, otherwise fine and warm. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly.

KwaZulu-Natal

Morning fog over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and rain in the north-east. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to south-easterly north of Durban, but moderate easterly to north-easterly in the south.
