South African mentor Rulani Mokwena has been found guilty in Algeria following his arrest at an Airport on Sunday.

Mokwena was reportedly detained just hours after parting ways with Algerian giants MC Alger.

This after he was alleged to have attempted to leave the country with an amount of foreign currency that had not been declared properly.

The 39-year-old was released shortly afterwards, and according to Algerian journalist Bessol Nazim, Mokwena has already been found guilty and sentenced.

Speaking to Thabiso Mosia on Radio2000, Nazim revealed that a court ultimately found that Mokwena was in breach of the country’s currency regulations.

Mokwena was then handed a suspended two-month imprisonment.

The condition of this suspended sentence stipulates that the former Mamelodi Sundowns doesn’t commit a similar offence within that two-month period.

AL-ITTIHAD TRIPOLI ARE CALLING…

Mokwena is now expected to join Libyan giants Al-Ittihad Tripoli now that he is a free man.

At Al-Ittihad, Mokwena will reunite with Thembinkosi Lorch whom he has worked with for years at different clubs.

The pair worked together at Orlando Pirates before Mokwena convinced Sundowns to buy Lorch whilst he was their head coach.

Mokwena was again instrumental in Wydad Athletic Club signing Lorch from Sundowns after he appeared to have fallen out of favour.
