SASSA grant payments for May 2024 are disbursed by the South African Social Security Agency. Paid to roughly 28-million beneficiaries in Mzansi, now is the time for those on government grants to adjust their spending and consider saving carefully.

Following the long-talked-about 4.8% grant increase in April, fuel, electricity and grocery price increases well above inflation have all but nullified that gain. This means SASSA grant payments for May 2024 are all the more important for recipients battling to make ends meet …

SASSA GRANT PAYMENTS FOR MAY 2024

Upcoming SASSA grant payments for May 2024 look like so. The agency decided to spread them across two weeks to account for the Wednesday 1 May’s Worker’s Day public holiday:

  • Older Persons Grants: Friday 3 May 2024.
  • Disability Grants: Monday 6 May 2024.
  • Children’s Grants: Tuesday 7 May 2024.

SASSA grant payments for May 2024 will go to 4-million old-age pensioners, 13-million child support recipients and 1-million beneficiaries with disabilities. Older Persons grants increased this month to R2 180 (60 years old) and R2 200 (75 years and older). While Disability grants increased to R2 180. And, finally, R2 180 is paid for Child Dependency, while R1 180 goes towards Foster Care and R530 for Child Support. These are the three SASSA Childcare grants disbursed monthly.

  • Children’s Grants: Thursday 4 July 2024.

AUGUST 2024

  • Older Persons Grants: Friday 2 August 2024.
  • Disability Grants: Monday 5 August 2024.
  • Children’s Grants: Tuesday 6 August 2024.

SEPTEMBER 2024

  • Older Persons Grants: Tuesday 3 September 2024.
  • Disability Grants: Wednesday 4 September 2024.
  • Children’s Grants: Thursday 5 September 2024.
