Four generations gone: Winnie, Zindzi, Zoleka and Zenani
Four generations gone: Zenani Mandela passed away in 2010 followed by Winnie in 2018 then Zindzi in 2020 and Zoleka Mandela in 2023.
Zoleka has joined her grandmother Winnie, her daughter Zenani, her mother Zindzi as well as her grandfather Nelson Mandela.

ZOLEKA MANDELA DIES
TshisaLIVE reports that author Zoleka Mandela, who’s the daughter of Zindzi and the granddaughter of Nelson and Winnie Mandela has passed.
“On monday, September 18th. Zoleka Mandela was admitted into hospital for ongoing treatment for metastatic cancer to the hip, liver, lung, pelvis, brain and spinal cord.
“Recent scans revealed significant disease progression Including fibrosis in the lungs as well as several emboli.
“Zoleka passed away on the evening of Monday, September 25th. surrounded by friends and family. Our sincerest gratitude to the medical team that took care of her,” read the statement.
She was admitted to hospital on 18 September for ongoing treatment for metastatic cancer in the hip, liver, lung, pelvis, brain and spinal cord.
She leaves behind her four children; three daughters and one son.

WINNIE, ZENANI AND ZINDZI MANDELA DEATHS
Winnie and Nelson Mandela’s great-granddaughter Zenani, who was Zoleka’s daughter and Zindzi’s granddaughter passed away at the age of 13, in a car accident in 2010.
Zenani died two days after her birthday, in a car accident, while on her way home from the World Cup concert in Soweto.
Her mother opened up about her battle with drug and alcohol addiction, and suicide attempt at the time of her daughter’s death.
IOL reported that the driver of the car was Sizwe Mankazana, who was the son of Zindzi’s partner.
Zenani passed away three years before her great-grandfather Nelson Mandela, who passed away in December 2013 at 95 years.
The SABC reported in April 2018 that ANC veteran Winnie Madikizela-Mandela died at the age of 81 after she was admitted to the Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg.
Zoleka’s mother Zindzi Mandela, who was the youngest daughter of Nelson Mandela and anti-apartheid activist Winnie Madikizela-Mandela died at the age of 59.
She passed away in July 2020 at a Johannesburg hospital in the early hours of Monday morning, the BBC reported.
