Steve Hofmeyr defends ‘the patriarchy’ in ten-minute video rant

Steve Hofmeyr has launched into a recent Facebook Video discussing the merits of the patriarchy, and insisting that it’s a good thing. Here’s more.

Steve Hofmeyr is a pretty controversial South African singer, whose opinions have gotten him into about as much hot water as a lobster.

His thoughts on the LGBTQ+ community were referred to the South African Human Rights Commission. Hofmeyr has also been in the news for supporting the old national flag and for his opinions on Afrikaner nationalism.

But this time, Steve is defending what he calls the ‘patriarchy’ in a January video posted to the singer’s Facebook.

A recent Hofmeyr video climbs into his thoughts on the ‘patriarchy’. During the video, he defends a male-dominated society – and says that ‘traditional values’ should remain.

According to Steve, men are hunters and fighters – a fact he claims should remain this way. Hofmeyr claims that these values have existed for a long time.

He also uses the video to claim that ‘aggression’ would be the consequence, without the patriarchy present.
