Former Minister of Finance, Tito Mboweni is renowned for his love for cooking. The ex-politician has a particular love for certain ingredients, we’ve noticed.

Whenever he is trending, fans are usually expecting to see his latest dish – and not for the right reasons! Tito Mboweni’s meals have become the subject of memes and jokes over the years as followers begged the ex-minister to take up cooking lessons. While the meals aren’t everybody’s cup of tea, we can certainly say that the 69-year-old has a signature style. There are a few ingredients he always turns to, no matter the results.

TITO MBOWENI’S MOST USED INGREDIENTS

Tito Mboweni can be counted on to use the following:
Chicken

Although we’ve seen Tito Mboweni using a range of different types of protein in his meals, it might be fair to say that chicken is definitely one of his favourite meats to cook. We’ve seen him cook chicken pieces, chicken tenders, and even a whole hardbody chicken. The results, however, might not be what we expected.

Bell Peppers

The former minister loves his bell peppers, especially green peppers. There are a couple of staples he clearly relies on and the bell peppers are high on that list.

Tomato

Just like bell peppers, you can almost always expect to find tomatoes in the ingredients list when Tito Mboweni is cooking. Every dish turns out the same colour for a reason and it’s because he loves to keep things a little … red.

Pilchards

You can’t talk about Mboweni without mentioning his famous Pilchards. The former governor of finance is so hooked on his tinned fish that he was on the verge of getting a product endorsement from them at one stage. As much as he loves chicken, everything comes second to his beloved tinned favourite!

Garlic

The number one ingredient that Tito Mboweni is famous for is without a shadow of a doubt garlic. We can often smell the amount of garlic through the pictures he posts on social media, such is the volume the former ANC member uses. Not only that, But Mboweni is famous for the size of his garlic chunks. No mincing or crushing here – Tito uses thick-sliced garlic in every meal!
