While majority of learners the first day of their school holidays, matriculants around the country, begin their winter school program in order to prepare them for their final school exams at the end of the year.
WINTER SCHOOL GETS UNDERWAY IN KZN
In KwaZulu-Natal, the Mercury has reported that almost 100 000 learners will be taking part into the winter school program.

KZN Education’s Head of Department Nkosinathi Ngcobo has said there are over 1000 winter school centres across the 12 districts in the province. The lessons are set to take place from 26 June to 7 July.

The department has targeted particular learners, specifically from poorly performing and high risk school, progressed pupils, deep rural schools.

Winter School Classes
The Umzinyathi District held Winter Camp today at Ethangeni Combined and Sarel Cilliers High Schools.

The department will also make a final push at improving this year’s results with a week long a Spring Class program from the 2-6 October.
At the end of 2022, KwaZulu Natal achieved a pass rate of 83%, an increase of 6,2% from 2021.
The results saw the province place third highest in the country. The province trailed behind the Free State and Gauteng who came first ‘aGnd second with 88,5% and 84,4% respectively.
