Cape Town organises public viewing areas for RWC final

The City of Cape Town has set up several public viewing areas for the community to catch the Bokke at the Rugby World Cup final.

If you’re thinking of getting out of the house to catch the Rugby World Cup final with your fellow South Africans this Saturday, the City of Cape Town has announced several public viewing areas that will be made available for everyone to enjoy.

The City of Cape Town has announced three sites where the public can watch the Rugby World Cup final game between South Africa and New Zealand this weekend, 28 October 2023.

Cape Town Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis said that the City was pleased to announce three public viewing sites.

“The World Cup this year has been one of the most exciting and unifying sporting events in our nation’s history. For the final, the City is pleased to announce three public viewing sites in the CBD, Langa and Mitchells Plain where residents can get together and hopefully watch the Springboks make history by winning the title for a fourth time,” Mayor Hill-Lewis said.

The sites will be on Bree Street in the CBD, the Monwabisi Sport and Recreation Centre in Langa, and the Westridge Civic Centre in Mitchells Plain.

The City added that the Bree Street viewing site will be between Church and Hout Street, and there will be soft road closures from Wale to Strand Street, and Loop to Buitengracht, including all side streets leading to the venue.

All three sites will be open from 17:00, with DJs and big screens to live stream the match and provide the perfect atmosphere. Kick-off for the game is at 21:00.
