South African-born singer Naledi Aphiwe Mnyonwane took to her Instagram to reveal that her school, Khethokuhle Secondary School honoured her with an appreciation award after she became an over-night national sensation following a viral TikTok clip of her singing.

Aphiwe Naledi Mnyonwane has become the talk on X (formerly known as Twitter) streets after American superstar Chris Brown sampled her voice in his latest song titled Shooter. Netizens were also thrilled to learn that she was paid a whopping R56 000 for her input in the Run It hitmaker’s song, TshisaLIVE reported.

“There are many people who are talented outside and he (Chris Brown) chose a child from a small city like mine. I appreciate him so much. People who didn’t know anything about Naledi Aphiwe today know her. It has changed my home situation. Everything is good now,” she was quoted as saying.

The rising star has since also been recognised by her high school with a Certificate of Appreciation. Taking to her feed, the talented singer announced the news.

“Your girl got an appreciation certificate at school for being their school icon 🥹👏🏻❤️ This is a big flex man. Thank you so much Khethokuhle ❤️🥹👏🏻🫶,” she wrote on her feed, accompanying photos of her award.
