Showmax and Multichoice are standing firm on their decision of streaming the ‘Tracking Thabo Bester’ docu-series detailing the life of Thabo Bester and his brazen escape from Mangaung aided by his lover, Dr Nandipha Magudumana.

Thabo Bester and Nandipha Magudumana’s legal representatives urged Showmax to send them a copy of the docu-series or failure to do so they will lay charges with the Showmax and Multichoice group.

SHOWMAX AND MULTICHOICE NOT BACKING DOWN ON AIRING DOCUMENTARY

In a statement reported by IOL Showmax and Multichoice confirmed to have received letters from Bester and Magudumana attempting to stop the airing of the four part documentary scheduled to air on 15 March.

Showmax and Multichoice have stayed firm in their decision of airing the documentary as the allegations of the two love birds are facing serious allegations.

The streaming platform believes that members of the public are to see this documentary and form their own view.

The statement read : “Showmax will vigorously defend the right of the public to do so. As a responsible media platform, Showmax has taken all necessary steps to ensure that our documentary adheres to the standards of journalistic integrity and ethical reporting.”

“We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as necessary,”

BESTER AND MAGUDUMANA’S DEMANDS

Bester and his lover’s legal team gave the Showmax team until last Saturday to send them copies of the docu-series failure for the team to do so would result in them pressing charges,

According to IOL in documents presented to Multichoice Magudumana wants a complete copy of the documentary in order to establish if there are issues that could prejudice her rights.

On the other hand Bester stated that he has never spoken to anyone from Showmax and he did not grant any rights to produce or distribute a documentary on his life.

After Bester faked his death and effectively escaping the Mangaung Correctional Centre, Bester lived a high life with his celebrity girlfriend Magudumana.

Bester and Magudumana were arrested last year in April. They, along with their co-accused, will appear in court for a pre-trial conference in June.
