It looks like marriage proposals in posh restaurants or getaways are a thing of the past. A Comrades Marathon runner proposed to his love Louise at the finish line.

The 96th Ultimate Human Race which was a down run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban took place on Sunday.

In a video that has been circulated on social media platforms, the athlete wore a sash written “Will you marry me Louise?” and proposed to the woman who was waiting for him at the finish line at the Kingsmead Stadium in Durban and she said yes!

In 2022, another Comrades runner proposed to and a video of the special moment also went viral on social media.

Pretoria runner Joseph Kagiso Ndlovu crossed the finish line carrying a message for that read: “Prudence, will you marry me? Run 90K for you.”

“I was ecstatic when she said yes, and we’ve only been together for four months. After our prayers and doing all the rituals and stuff, I said to her I was going to propose, but she didn’t know how, when, and where,” Ndlovu told EWN.

The athlete said they met at church.

“Yesterday (Sunday) was the 10th anniversary of my wife’s death. I believed it was time for me to move on, therefore I proposed to Prudence,” he said.
