LAST-MINUTE FASHION ADVICE

If you’re going to be attending the Hollywoodbets Durban July, you will need to have a fashion plan in mind. And what better advice than from veteran event designer Leigh Schubert.

Speaking to The South African, Leigh shared her last-minute fashion tips for Durban July revellers…

  • Either wear sensible shoes – or have backups! Nothing stylish about a wobbly uncomfortable woman in stilettos!
  • Bring a wrap or jacket – it gets chilly when the sun goes down, and being cold isn’t “hot.”
  • Accessories or hats are what are the most striking and easy to spot. Get crafty, whip out your glue gun, and combine some bits and bobs together. Use an Alice band, beanie, or old peak as a base… pick a colour theme and haul out your old costume jewellery, kids toys, silk flowers, or honey spoons, and create your masterpiece!
  • If you’re shopping for last-minute Durban July fashion, have a lookout on socials for any one-off pieces and accessories that boutiques and designers have sourced or made.
