FOUR BOMBSHELLS FROM THE ‘REAL HOUSEWIVES VAN DIE WYNLANDE’

1. AMY KLEINHANS ON ‘FOREIGNER’ HUSBAND

On the first episode of the series, Amy Kleinhans-Curd spoke about marrying her “foreigner” husband – New Zealand businessman Leighton Curd. She quoted a conversation between herself and former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela.

“I’ve been married to Leighton Curd for 28 years now. He is a New Zealander. When he asked me to marry him, Nelson Mandela said ‘why are you marrying a foreigner?’. After that he called me and told me ‘I’ve worked it out’,” she said.

“He said ‘you know that saying where you’re actually you keep your friends close but you keep your enemies even closer? I know your strategy! That’s the truth” she joked.

2. SHE FOSTERED HER DOMESTIC WORKER’S SEVENTH CHILD

Amy revealed that she and her husband fostered her domestic worker’s seventh child and raised her as her own.

“Adopting a child is a huge responsibility. When we met Gugu, she was our domestic worker’s seventh child. I knew in my heart that this child would be with me for the rest of my life. It made me so happy to think I could do this for someone else,” she said.

3. THE FORMER MISS SA REVEALED SHE HAD ‘KNOCK KNEES’

On an episode of RHOWL, she explained that when she was younger she had wobbly knees. So, she had to go to Princess Alice Orthopaedic Hospital Bergvilet to have corrective booties for knock knees – a rep confirmed to The South African.

“You see me and you see what I’m doing now and what I’ve been doing for the past 30 years, and you know that I was Miss South Africa and everything. But what lies behind it is that when I was young, my mom noticed that my knees were wobbly,” she said.

4AMY KLEINHANS-CURD ON BEING ARRESTED

While the ladies were on vacation in Mauritius, they decided to play a game of “never have I ever”.

So, when the “never have I ever been in jail” statement came up, both Amy Kleinhans-Curd and Michelle van Zyl had to drink! Amy revealed that she was in jail over “stealing a lipstick” from a pharmacy. However, she noted that she was set up.
