The silly season is fast approaching, which means winding down and taking a well-deserved break from work. And with several public holidays on the December calendar, many South Africans are expected to close up shop earlier than expected.

To add extra festive cheer, there’s a clever hack to maximise your annual leave…

If you haven’t already filled out your December annual leave form, here’s a way you can get more for less.

If you take just three days after Christmas, you could score yourself a ten-day holiday.

To go on holiday from Saturday, 23 December 23, and return to work on Tuesday, 2 January 2024 (10 days), book these dates:  

  • Wednesday, 27 December 
  • Thursday, 28 December 
  • Friday 29, December

DON’T FORGET 15 DECEMBER!

With Cyril Ramaphosa throwing in an “extra” public holiday on Friday, 15 December thanks to several sporting achievements, including the Springboks’ Rugby World Cup win, there’s now an even more extended leave option.
