PowerBall jackpots soar to R155 million for Friday, 20 March draw

Players are eyeing a potential windfall as jackpots in the PowerBall and PowerBall PLUS draws have surged to a combined R155 million ahead of Friday, 20 March’s draw.

Operator ITHUBA confirmed that the PowerBall jackpot now stands a guaranteed R107 million, while PowerBall PLUS has climbed to a guranteed R48 million.

Growing interest

The rising jackpots come amid strong ticket sales and growing interest from players across South Africa, with the operator attributing the momentum to its efforts to keep the lottery accessible and engaging.

Tickets are available at retailers nationwide, through the official National Lottery platforms, and via major banks including FNB, Absa, Nedbank, Standard Bank, Capitec Bank, TymeBank and African Bank.

Sales close at 20:30 (SA time) / 18:30 (UK time) on Friday, 20 March.

Beyond the prospect of life-changing winnings, proceeds from ticket sales contribute to the National Lotteries Distribution Trust Fund, which funds community development and social initiatives.

ITHUBA CEO Charmaine Mabuza said the impact of the lottery extends beyond individual winners, helping support causes across the country.

Players who win R50 000 or more are offered additional support, including counselling and financial advice, while all lottery winnings in South Africa remain tax-free.

Participants must be 18 years or older and are urged to play responsibly.
