
Cape Town areas to experience 10-hour power outage on Wednesday
The City of Cape Town will perform essential maintenance on the electricity infrastructure this week, which will lead to a 10-hour power outage.

The City of Cape Town’s electricity and generation teams will carry out a 10-hour power outage in Athlone on Wednesday, 30 July, to maintain essential electricity infrastructure.
If all goes according to plan, the maintenance will take place from 8:00 to 18:00, causing temporary electricity supply interruptions.

The City of Cape Town clarified that electricity supply interruptions will affect only the areas highlighted on the maps and only on the specified date.

Last week, the City of Cape Town electricity and generation teams also carried out maintenance in Athlone.

POWER COULD BE RESTORED ANYTIME
Moreover, the City of Cape Town has warned that electricity supply could be restored at any time and urged customers to treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the planned maintenance work.
“Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on.
“The City of Cape Town apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks residents for their cooperation and understanding,” the metro municipality said.
