Cape Town areas to face 10-hour power outage next week
The City of Cape Town has scheduled a 10-hour power outage for certain areas. Here’s a list of the locations that will be affected…

City of Cape Town technicians will start maintenance work at 8:00 and plan to finish by 18:00 the same day, as long as no unexpected delays occur. The City says the power outage is essential to enhance long-term supply reliability in the area.
“The City advises residents in Silvertown of upcoming critical electricity supply interruptions for infrastructure maintenance,” the city stated in a statement issued this week.
“[We] apologise for any inconvenience caused while the essential maintenance is being carried out.”
Only specific areas in Cape Town will be impacted
On the scheduled date, power will be interrupted only in specific parts of Silvertown. The affected streets include Honeysuckle, Appledene, Agapanthus, and Geranium.
The City encourages residents to check the detailed power outage map available at this link to confirm if their property will be affected.
The city cautioned that “the electricity supply could be restored at any time,” and urged residents to treat all electrical points live throughout the planned work.
As a safety measure, they advised: “Customers must please treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the planned maintenance work.”
Safety and support measures in place
Once the power outage is over, residents should unplug sensitive appliances and keep them off until the power stabilises to avoid damage.
Additionally, the city thanked the community for its understanding and cooperation.
