GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World in Cape Town will undergo an upgrade with a new shopping mall.

BusinessTech reports that Flanagan & Gerard Group, partnering with Sun International, will develop the R600 million mall.

Over 100 national, regional, and local retailers have already shown interest in the project.

Shopping and gambling combined

Construction of the new 22 000m² shopping mall is scheduled to begin in September this year, with the official opening planned for March 2027.

The new single-level mall will connect to GrandWest’s redeveloped children’s entertainment area, enhancing its appeal to families, and will feature around 60 new stores.

It will include two grocers, two pharmacies, and a variety of specialist food retailers, along with fashion, health, beauty, and athleisure shops. Developers will also add new restaurants to GrandWest’s existing family-friendly dining options.
