Checkers launches newest flagship store in Sandton
Checkers launched its latest flagship store in Sandton, occupying prime floor space formerly held by Pick n Pay.

Retail giant Checkers has opened its latest Fresh X flagship store at Hyde Park Corner in Sandton, taking over prime floor space formerly occupied by Pick n Pay, which closed in September 2024 as part of a wider restructuring strategy.
The new store, launched this week, targets the affluent shoppers of the prestigious Hyde Park area and features a variety of premium services and exclusive products designed for the mall’s upscale clientele.
Located between Sandton and Rosebank, Hyde Park Corner offers 40,000 square metres of retail space and attracts shoppers with high Living Standards Measure (LSM).
Hyprop Investments, which owns the mall, secured Checkers as the anchor tenant earlier this year.

The new Checkers Fresh X store delivers on the chain’s promise of upmarket innovation, featuring:
- In-store Krispy Kreme

In addition to the Fresh X store, Checkers also opened a standalone Petshop Science outlet within Hyde Park Corner, providing premium pet food, toys, treats, and accessories.
