City of Johannesburg public swimming pools REOPEN first day of SPRING

With a total of 57 pools, the City of Johannesburg announced that 18 swimming pools will open on 1 September 2023.

City of Johannesburg has announced readiness to kick off the swimming pool season across the metro.

THE NUMBER OF SWIMMINGS REOPENING IN THE CITY OF JOHANNESBURG

With a total of 57 pools, Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Community Development Councillor Lubabalo Magwentshu in the City of Johannesburg expressed that the excitement is about to begin.

“Starting September 1, 2023, 18 pools will open their gates for you to enjoy. And that’s not all – an additional 29 pools will be opening during the season, which extends until the end of March 2024. So, make sure you seize this opportunity to enjoy the water”, said MMC Magwentshu.

WHEN WILL SWIMMING POOLS BE OPENED IN SPRING

He said Tuesday to Friday, you can swim from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. On weekends, the fun continues from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

“That is the perfect way to beat the heat and enjoy some outdoor recreation.”

“Don’t worry about breaking the bank – entry tariffs start at just R6 and go upwards. A small cost for a refreshing and enjoyable experience,” he provided ease.

He encouraged all citizens to go out and experience the swimming pools this Spring.

“Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or just dipping your toes, everyone is encouraged to join in the summer celebration. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn how to swim, stay active with water aerobics, and brush up on water safety skills. Your safety matters,” he said.

MMC WARNS BATHERS AGAINST PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES

“Please remember that pushing, running, and bringing glasses into the pool or deck area is not allowed. Additionally, alcohol and smoking of narcotics is strictly prohibited. Let’s keep the environment safe and enjoyable for everyone,” MMC Magwentshu cautioned.

He further said beyond just swimming, the pools will offer a variety of activities. “Take advantage and learn how to swim, join water aerobics sessions, and enhance your water safety knowledge. There’s something for everyone to enjoy. Join us as we kick off this exciting swimming season. Gather your family and friends, embrace the summer vibes, band make a splash at the City of Johannesburg’s Public Swimming Pools. See you at the poolside!”
