For the first time since 1994, the DA believes ANC support will dip below 50% in the 2024 election. Moreover, the Democratic Alliance 2024 election manifesto is built on achievable goals it can realise within 100-days of taking power, it says.

Furthermore, Steenhuisen said the DA will: “Rescue the Union Buildings from the clutches of a corrupt government. And restore them to their rightful place as a symbol of pride for all South Africans.”

WHAT IS THE DA PROMISING?

The DA promises to do the following:

  • Create 2-million new jobs.
  • End water- and load-shedding.
  • Halve violent crime.
  • Reduce gender-based violence.
  • End corruption by abolishing cadre deployment.
  • Introduce a merit-based system of appointments.
  • Lift 6-million people out of poverty.
  • Triple the reading capability of grade 4 pupils.
  • Provide quality health care for all.

“South Africans are tired of empty promises. The ANC is in terminal decline. And the people are tired of hearing about bullet trains when the regular trains they used to take no longer run. Therefore, in this election, the DA is not going to oppose the ANC. This year the DA is going to defeat the ANC,” said Steenhuisen.

SEA OF BLUE

Appropriately, the launch of the Democratic Alliance 2024 election manifesto was marked by a sea of blue supporters. Thousands took to the streets, brandishing blue umbrellas in a symbolic showing of DA support. While a date for the 2024 election has not yet been sent by President Cyril Ramaphosa, it must take place before May 2024.
