The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) provides a Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant of R370 to South Africans without an income. By checking their balance regularly, recipients can confirm whether SASSA has processed their payment.
The good news is that you can check your balance with the tip of your fingers.
HOW TO CHECK YOUR SASSA SRD BALANCE USING YOUR PHONE
You can check your SASSA SRD R370 grant in three ways when using your phone. Here’s a breakdown of how you can check your balance:
USSD Service:
- Dial *120*69277#.
- Choose the balance option from the menu shown.
- Enter your Identification Document (ID) number and choose to submit.
- Your SRD balance will then be shown.
WhatsApp:
If you can’t access the USSD service, you can check your balance on WhatsApp:
- WhatsApp 0600 123 456, say Hi and write your enquiry.
- SASSA will then request your ID and reference number.
- Your balance will then be shown.
SRD Web Portal:
If neither of these options is working, you can check your balance on the SRD web portal by following these steps:
- Visit the SRD website at https://srd.sassa.gov.za/
- If you are a South African citizen, click on South African ID holders and enter your ID number. If you do not have a valid South African ID or are an Asylum Seeker, click on the Asylum Seeker and Special Permit Holder option and enter your file number or Passport number and follow the prompts.
- Click on application status, where you will be required to enter your ID number and the contact number you used when applying.
- Click on submit when you are done and go to the application complete tab.
- Scroll down to the current month and check for your status and the date you will get paid.
Additionally, you can also check your SASSA R370 balance by visiting your nearest SASSA post office.
