Level 45 opened its doors on 7 March, and now holds the title of being the highest conference room in South Africa.

As the name suggests, it is on the 45th floor of the famous Leonardo Hotel in Sandton – 179 meters above ground level.

In 2020, The Leonardo hotel opened for business and leisure and took the mantle as Africa’s tallest building. Before then, the Carlton Centre in the Johannesburg CBD prided itself on being the tallest building on the continent.

The Leonardo now stands unmatched and stretches 234 metres into the Johannesburg skyline.

UNINTERRUPTED VIEWS

Level 45 at The Leonardo has not only become South Africa’s highest conference venue, but also offers uninterrupted 360-degree views of Johannesburg.

Situated in Africa’s economic powerhouse of Sandton, Level 45 enables guests to see the Magaliesburg hills and even planes taking off from OR Tambo airport.

The venue also has ‘weatherproof’ features to ensure that events proceed smoothly regardless of the elements.

“Our newest offering, Level 45, will now join the ranks as a flagship event venue in Joburg,” Sales director of Legacy Hotels and Resorts, Hara Jackson, told the Sandton Chronicle.

One of the trends the hotel group has observed was a growing demand for versatile venues that offered event organisers a choice of ‘blank canvas’ spaces.

“The Leonardo, with its numerous places to live, work, play, sleep, and eat, does that. The addition of Level 45 offered another unique space in the building for clients to have fun with,” Jackson added.

HIGHEST MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT

The Leonardo has 55 stories and offers luxurious residential options including apartments and penthouse suites. It also has over 15 000 square meters of top-tier office space.

These features are complemented by other amenities such as a gym, spa, restaurants, lifestyle and recreation zone, and even a Montessori pre-school.

Level 45 joins other conference and meeting rooms in the hotel, but with a much steeper hiring price that starts at R50 000.
