Springboks flyhalf, Handre Pollard, became a first-time father on 25 April when his wife, Marise gave birth to their son. Here’s five things to know about the new mom.
HANDRE POLLARD BECOMES A FATHER
The newest addition to the Springboks family has arrived. Handre Pollard and his wife, Marise welcomed their first child together on Thursday 25 April. The pair became parents to a bouncing baby boy named Hunter Andre Pollard. Marise shared the first photo of their son, along with his weight and height in an Instagram post. Take a look….
“Hunter Andre Pollard. Our biggest blessing and greatest love. 25 April. 3.6kg. 52 cm,” she captioned the post.
Marise also shared a quote with what looks like the baby’s sonogram.
“For you formed my inward paths; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows very well. Psalm 139: 13 – 14,” read the quote.
Marise announced that she and Handre were expecting a baby in November 2023. Shortly after the Springboks became double Rugby World Cup champions. Following her baby shower at Brookdale Estate in Paarl, South Africa, Marise revealed that she was carrying a baby boy. This was in January.

Hunter is the third Springbok baby born this year, and it is only April! Anlia and Eben Etzebeth welcomed their baby girl on 16 January. While Faf and Mine de Klerk welcomed their baby girl, Remi-Ré de Klerk, on 27 February. Mine recently shared a rare photo of their beautiful baby girl.

- Marise is an athlete herself, she previously won gold in the South African National Championships, according to The Citizen.
- She is a fitness blogger, who has a whopping 182 000 followers on Instagram.
- The new mom hails from a farm in Bloemendal, Eastern Cape, South Africa. She now lives in England, where Handre plays for Leicester Tigers in England’s Premiership Rugby league.
- The brunette beauty studied BED – ECD Foundation Phase Teaching in 2018. She worked as a pre-school teacher.
- Handre and Marise tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in Stellenbosch, Western Cape in 2017. The pair met through Facebook, while Handre was in his Matric year and Marise in grade 11. The pair started dating soon after and have been together for 12 years.
