Not just Siya – AI scam now features ‘Connie Ferguson’ in fake investment scheme
Just days after a suspicious video of Siya Kolisi went viral, Connie Ferguson warned South Africans about a scammer using AI to deceive the public.

Scammers have used advanced technology to trick the public with another investment scam—this time targeting actress Connie Ferguson. Just like they did with Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, they’ve manipulated the veteran TV star’s image using AI.
CONNIE FERGUSON APPEARS IN AI SCAM
South Africans have been posting videos on the X platform exposing another investment scam—this one featuring popular TV veteran Connie Ferguson.
Through the use of AI technology, the videos make it seem as if the actress is telling the public: “This business is 100% legit and has helped so many lives out there. Trust me, you will never regret doing business with me.”
Earlier this week, Siya Kolisi’s likeness appeared in an AI video, accompanied by the voice in an accent of what seemed to be a Nigerian man.
‘BE VIGILANT,’ SAYS ACTRESS
Connie Ferguson recently used her official Instagram account to warn the public about another scam, this time involving an old video clip of her.
She shared screenshots of a scammer who contacted her via WhatsApp, ironically, pretending to be her.
Issuing a warning to her followers, Connie Ferguson captioned the post: “SCAMMERS ARE DOING THE MOST! Be vigilant! I DO NOT offer any investment opportunity in business! Thieves are AI now to convince you that they are whoever they say they are!
“Do not easily part with money you worked so hard for! If it’s too good to be true, it usually is! Have you never asked yourself why they are the ones who always have to call you and you can’t call them back? Don’t be manipulated into losing your common sense because times are hard.
“Again, IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT USUALLY IS!”
