The Presiding Officers of Parliament, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and Amos Masondo, will meet with Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, the man behind the State Capture report, on Wednesday after he criticised the government’s lack of action.

PARLIAMENT MEETS ZONDO
Last week Zondo indicated that he does not believe Parliament can prevent State Capture from happening again.
Parliament took offence to his remarks and slammed it as an attack from one of the arms of the State – the judiciary.

Mapisa-Nqakula, the Speaker of the National Assembly, and Masondo, the Speaker of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), will meet with Zondo at Constitution Hill.
The meeting will fill Zondo in on Parliament’s implementation of the recommendations on Corruption and Fraud in the public sector and State entities made by the Judicial Commission into State Capture.

“A comprehensive briefing to the media by the Presiding Officers on progress made in executing the State Capture Commission’s recommendations will take place on Thursday,” said Parliament.
Zondo submitted the voluminous State Capture report in 2022. As previously reported, he said nothing had changed since then, and history could repeat itself.
“If another group of people were to do exactly what the Guptas did to pursue State Capture, Parliament would still not be able to stop it, and that is simply because I have seen nothing that has changed,” he said.
