Parts of Tshwane to experience seven-hour power outage on Thursday
Eskom has planned two power outages this week that will affect areas in both Tshwane and Johannesburg. Here’s what to expect.
Eskom has scheduled a seven-hour power outage in Cullinan, Tshwane, after an emergency supply interruption.
The utility will carry out maintenance on Thursday, 29 May, from 11:00 to 18:00.
Eskom to enforce 7-hour outage in Tshwane
The power utility announced an emergency electricity supply interruption as it conducts maintenance on the distribution network.
The following customers will be affected:
- Butjani Lodge
- Lama-Lama Game Reserve
- Loodswaai Game Lodge
- Leeuwfontein Provincial Nature Reserve
- Moloto North
- Savanna Game Farm
- Wagondrift Lodge, Spa and Game Farm
Similarly, Eskom said there will be an electricity supply disruption in Soweto, due to maintenance that will be conducted on the distribution network.
“The power outage will affect customers in parts of Braamfischer Phases 1, 2 and Doornkop Blocks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 on Friday, 30 May, from 9:00 – 18:00. The interruption of electricity is necessary to perform essential maintenance on our distribution power lines,” the power utility said.
‘Treat electrical appliances as live’
In the interest of safety, Eskom said customers should treat all electrical appliances as live at all times during the planned maintenance.
“Eskom apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused by this maintenance,” the power utility said.
In addition, Eskom said that if circumstances are beyond its control, the planned power outage in Gauteng may not proceed as communicated.
