Planning a trip to China? Check out the latest visa process updates
China has introduced a new online visa application system to simplify and speed up the process for travellers. Here’s what you need to know…

In a major step to modernise and speed up the visa process, the Chinese Visa Application Centre launched a new online visa application system on 23 June.
The system aims to improve efficiency and cut down waiting times by allowing applicants to complete most of the process remotely.
Through the official platform, applicants can now fill out their visa forms for China and upload all necessary supporting documents online.
China streamlines visa processing
The new system replaces the previous process, which basically required all documents to be submitted in person, often involving long waits and repeated China visa centre visits for applicants.
Now, once the online portion of the visa is reviewed and approved, applicants will receive a Visa Application Submission Certificate.
Applicants must then print the certificate and make a single visit to the visa centre to submit their physical passport, provide biometric data, and pay the visa fee.
This hybrid system reduces the in-person process to one appointment, significantly easing the burden on both travellers and administrative staff.
