LARGE POTHOLES ARE TAKING OVER THE ROADS IN JOHANNESBURG

Owing to the regular heavy downpours, roads in the City of Johannesburg are slowly deteriorating and require urgent intervention.

While many appreciate the Johannesburg Roads Agency’s (JRA) efforts to clear and clean blocked storm water drains, this diversion has seemingly left roads suffering.

MOTORISTS RISK DRIVING, FEARING TYRE AND SUSPENSION DAMAGES

Some motorists are under the impression that the expansion of potholes will be left unattended like the broken traffic lights currently manned by vagrants.

In one that has been disrupting movement in Roodepoort, City of Johannesburg councillor Theo Doyle confirmed the escalation of the complaint.

“Update with regards to potholes near Eagle Canyon Golf Estate, Paul Kruger Road and surrounding. I have reported and escalated the matter. Confirmation has been received. Due to bad weather, JRA will respond once it clears up,” he assured the residents.

CLAIMS PROCESS FOR POTHOLE DAMAGE

Meanwhile, have you ever wanted the City to pay for the pothole damage caused to your vehicle tyre?

Look no further as the City of Johannesburg through its roads entity, Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), has provided steps to claim from it.
“Report potholes to Johannesburg Roads Agency or email hotline@jra.org.za the street name, the nearest street corner, and the name of the suburb affected,” the entity explained.

Before emailing your claim, JRA requires you to download a copy of a Claims Form/ Public Liability Claims (damage to vehicle, property or personal injury).

In order for your claim to be considered, forward a completed Claim Form with applicable supporting documents to JRA’s address or hand deliver to the entity’s headquarters.
