As Qatar reopens its airspace, Qatar Airways has reaffirmed that passenger safety remains one of its top priorities. The airline confirmed it has reinstated flights and is focusing on getting passengers home and to their destinations safely.

To assist travellers as operations resume, the airline has also deployed additional ground staff at Hamad International Airport.

This follows Iran’s missile attack on a US air base in Qatar on Monday, 23 June. The strike was in retaliation for the US bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities over the weekend, which escalated tensions between Israel and Iran. Qatar, however, reported that its air defences successfully intercepted the Iranian missiles.

QATAR CONDEMNS IRAN’S ATTACK

Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Dr Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari said the State of Qatar strongly condemned the attack. He added that the attack in Qatar caused no injuries or casualties.

The spokesperson said the attack is considered a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, its airspace, international law, and the United Nations Charter. He also said that Qatar reserves the right to respond directly to the brazen aggression, in line with international law.

TRUMP SAYS ISRAEL AND IRAN NEGOTIATED CEASEFIRE

US President Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social platform that Israel and Iran have agreed to a complete and total ceasefire. He stated that the 12-day war has come to an end and claimed both nations will act peacefully and respectfully during the ceasefire.

“I would like to congratulate both countries, Israel and Iran, on having the stamina, courage, and intelligence to end what should be called “the 12-day war.” This is a war that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will,” shared the US president.
