South African Airways (SAA) has boosted its regional and international flight schedule to meet growing passenger demand during the festive season.

The airline will increase frequencies on key routes across Africa and South America, giving travellers more flexibility and choice during the busiest travel months of the year.

Expanded routes and frequencies

More flights will be added on the following routes later this year:

  • Johannesburg–Lagos: Starting 6 October, two additional flights will operate on Mondays and Tuesdays, bringing the total to six flights per week.
  • Johannesburg–Accra: From 1 October, SAA will add flights on Wednesdays and Fridays, also increasing to six weekly flights.
  • Johannesburg–São Paulo: Effective 10 December, two extra flights on Wednesdays and Sundays will lift the schedule to five weekly flights.

These seasonal increases will stay in place until 11 February 2026, giving travellers greater access to destinations during peak demand.

As the festive season traditionally drives a surge in travel across Africa and beyond, SAA is positioning itself to meet that demand. By adding flights, the airline is boosting capacity and improving connectivity for both business and leisure travellers.

SAA’s Chief Commercial Officer, Tebogo Tsimane, emphasised the airline’s commitment.

“SAA is strengthening its network with more flights, more frequencies, and more opportunities to connect Africa to the world. We are aiming higher to serve our customers better this festive season.” Tsimane said.
