SASSA confirmed it will pay approved Social Relief of Distress (SRD) beneficiaries their June 2025 grants between 26 and 30 June. The agency advised beneficiaries to check the SRD website for their exact payment date, which appears next to their banking details.

SASSA SRD grant: Verification essential to prevent delays

SASSA has urged all SRD beneficiaries flagged for identity verification to complete the process without delay to avoid payment issues. The agency triggers this verification to detect suspected fraud or mismatches between banking and contact details and official records.

“There is no shortcut,” warned Senzeni Ngubeni, SASSA Mpumalanga spokesperson.

“All beneficiaries that are required to go through this process, they must do it to avoid delays and disappointment of not receiving the grant.”

Furthermore, Ngubeni explained that affected clients will receive a verification link via SMS, which must be completed within 72 hours.

“Beneficiaries must not panic. Instead, they should verify at their local SASSA offices or log in to the SRD website at http://srd.sassa.gov.za,” he added.

Eligibility and Application Reminders

SASSA also reminded the public that to qualify for the SRD grant, applicants must be South African citizens, permanent residents, or registered refugees who are over 18, unemployed, not receiving any other social grant, and not residing in a government-funded institution.

SASSA encourages using its digital platforms for new applications and status checks to streamline services and reduce queues. However, in-person support remains available at local offices.

Ngubeni also cautioned beneficiaries against sharing personal details with strangers.
