Table Mountain: SANParks reopens some hiking trails following wildfire
Several hiking trails in Table Mountain National Park, previously closed because of the recent fire, are now open to the public again.

SANParks has reopened several hiking trails in Table Mountain National Park after a recent fire, shifting focus to on-the-ground safety checks.
While bad weather initially delayed aerial surveys of the fire damage, rangers and officials have now launched ground assessments, prioritising the identification of structural hazards along the routes, Tourism Update reports.
It has already been found that the fire scorched more than 3 000 hectares of vegetation.
Since then, a suspect has been arrested in connection with the wildfire, following a tip-off that led law enforcement to a man seen in Clovelly.
The suspect was then apprehended and now faces arson charges.
Which hiking trails have reopened?
According to SANParks, the Table Mountain hiking trails now open to the public include:
- Trappies Kop,
- Elsies Peak,
- Lower Tokai,
- Peers Cave,
- Chapman’s Peak, and
- East Fort.
The Silvermine and Upper Tokai areas remain closed pending further assessment, and no reopening date has been announced for these hiking trails.
