WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION IN TSHWANE ON TUESDAY

The City of Tshwane said the interruption is due to upgrades and tie-in connections to the water supply network in Philip Nel Park.

The following areas will be affected:

  • Kwaggasrand
  • Philip Nel Park
  • Pretoria Industrial
  • Pretoria Industrial Township
  • Pretoria Town and Townlands
  • Proclamation Hill Ext 1
  • Skinner Court
  • Van Zylslaagte
  • West Park West Park Ext 4, 5, 6 and 7

The City of Tshwane urged residents to use water sparingly during the maintenance period.

DEMAND EXCEEDS SUPPLY IN GAUTENG METROS

The water supply interruption in Tshwane comes as bulk supplier Rand Water has complained about high consumption in Gauteng metro municipalities.

Gauteng metro municipalities consume more than 75% of the water produced by Rand Water.

The water utility said its systems are currently low but stable.

“Rand Water provides bulk potable water to 18 municipalities including Gauteng metros through a number of interlinked strategic reservoirs. Therefore, high consumption in one area/system places a strain in the entire system,” Rand Water spokesperson Makenosi Maroo said.
