The City of Tshwane will implement a planned 10-hour water supply interruption on Wednesday, 23 July, to carry out urgent upgrades and tie-in connection work on the water network in Erasmus Extension 44.

Water interruption to affect multiple areas

The maintenance work is scheduled to begin at 8:00 and is expected to continue until 18:00. According to the city, the affected areas include Erasmus Extensions 4, 5, 8, 15, 19, 20, 21, and 25, as well as Cultura Park Extension 11, Kristalpark, and Versterpark AH.

The city said it would make every effort to finish the project within the planned timeframe to reduce inconvenience for residents.

Call for responsible use

In light of the water interruption, Tshwane has asked residents to conserve water during planned maintenance and as a regular practice.

“Residents are urged to make the following water-conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle,” the municipality said.

These measures involve avoiding the use of hosepipes or sprinkler systems for garden watering between 6:00 and 18:00, not using hosepipes to wash vehicles, and not filling swimming pools. The city also urged residents to use grey water for gardening and toilet flushing.

Report leaks

The municipality has appealed to residents to report all forms of water wastage.

“Leaks, burst pipes and incidents where water is wasted must be reported. Where possible, water-saving devices should be installed,” the statement read.

While apologising for the water interruption inconvenience, the City of Tshwane emphasised the importance of the work in maintaining a sustainable and efficient water system.

“The City of Tshwane apologises profusely for the inconvenience which may be caused as a result of the above-mentioned work,” it stated.
