Miss SA World VP Carolyn Baldwin Botha has defended herself against claims she used the k-word after an audio clip of her allegedly racist comments set tongues wagging on Twitter on 13 July.

CAROLYN BALDWIN BOTHA RESPONDS TO RACISM ALLEGATIONS

Newly appointed Miss SA World VP Carolyn Baldwin Botha was accused of racism as a Tweep shared an audio clip where she allegedly used the k-word.

Botha denied that she made those comments. In in a statement to Times Live, she claimed that the person behind the audio “specialises in voice overs and video production”. She also said that the racism claims are “utter nonsense and rubbish”.

“It is the use of my words. I did not say that sentence. They have spliced wording I have used together,” she said adding that she consulted an expert, who she alleged confirmed her suspicions to her.

Botha claimed that the person behind the audio clip is a disgruntled pageant queen who is allegedly jealous of her and the work she has done. She did not mention any names but claimed that she had been defrauded by the person.

MISS SA WORLD VP ACCUSED OF RACISM

So, where did the racism claims emerge from a Twitter user, who goes by the handle @_InkosiYesizwe, alleged that Both used the k-word in an audio clip shared on the platform.

In the audio clip, the person speaking can be heard speaking about someone else having to wait in a “k**** infested” mall for sanitary products.

“In 2023 we still have people who are as racist as this woman.. It is alleged that this is the voice of Carolyn Baldwin Botha, who does this to black people quite often,” read the tweet.
