Here’s the weather outlook for South Africa’s nine provinces.
The South African Weather Service has issued a heatwave conditions advisory, stating that persistently high temperatures are expected across South Africa until Friday. In contrast, disruptive rain with heavy downpours that may cause flooding, along with strong winds, is also expected in two provinces.
SEVERE WEATHER ALERTS
IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS
A. Yellow Level 2 Warning: Disruptive rain with heavy downpours leading to possible flooding and possible strong winds are expected over the eastern parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
FIRE DANGER WARNINGS
Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the the Kamiesberg local municipality in the Northern Cape, places in the West Coast, Garden Route, and Cape Winelands district municipalities in the Western Cape, and the Blue Crane Route municipality of the Eastern Cape.
ADVISORIES
1. Heat wave conditions with persistently high temperatures are expected over the western parts of Namakwa district municipality in the Northern Cape, west, south-west and northern parts of the Western Cape until Friday, as well as Koukamma local municipality in the Eastern Cape until Friday (11-13/03/2026), but persisting until Saturday in places over Sarah Baartman and Amathole district, King Sabata Dalindyebo local municipality, Nelson Mandela Bay Metro and Buffalo City Metro in the Eastern Cape.
2. Extremely hot and uncomfortable conditions are expected over the Namakwa district municipality in the Northern Cape, as well as in places in the Western Cape.

Gauteng
Gauteng can expect partly cloudy at first, otherwise cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers

Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga, the Place of the Rising Sun, can expect cloudy and cold to cool with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread in the extreme east.
Limpopo
In Limpopo, cloudy and cool with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread in the extreme east.
North West
North West, known as Bokone Bophirima in Setswana, can expect partly cloudy conditions, with cool to warm conditions in the west and central areas, becoming cloudy over the eastern parts with isolated showers and thundershowers.
Free State
In Free State, morning fog patches over the extreme east; otherwise, partly cloudy and cool to warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers over the eastern parts, where it will be cloudy.
Northern Cape
The day will start fine, then become partly cloudy and warm to hot, but very hot to extremely hot in the west. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-easterly in the morning, becoming light to moderate westerly by the afternoon.
Western Cape
Fine to partly cloudy and very hot to extremely hot. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate easterly to south-easterly but southerly along the west coast.

Eastern Cape
The Western half: Fine and hot. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to north easterly
The Eastern half: The day will start fine and hot. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly
KwaZulu-Natal
Morning fog over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, but cloudy in the north. Isolated showers and rain are expected in the extreme north. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate easterly to south-easterly north of Durban, otherwise moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly, spreading to Richard’s Bay by evening.
