Here’s the weather outlook for South Africa’s nine provinces.

SAWS warns of a heatwave over Witzenberg and issues a Yellow Level 1 alert for damaging coastal winds between Table Bay and Plettenberg Bay from Thursday morning to Friday afternoon (27–28 November 2025).

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the central parts of the Northern Cape, northern part of the Western Cape and in places over the western part of the Eastern Cape.

ADVISORIES

A. A Heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected over Witzenberg municipality.

B. Yellow level 1 warning for damaging coastal winds is expected between Table Bay and Plettenberg Bay from Thursday late morning until Friday afternoon (27-28/11/2025).

Gauteng

Gauteng can expect cloudy and warm weather with isolated showers and thundershowers.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index is Low

Mpumalanga

Mpumalanga, the Place of the Rising Sun, can expect cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Limpopo

In Limpopo, cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

North West

North West, known as Bokone Bophirima in Setswana, can expect cloudy with morning fog patches in places in the east, otherwise partly cloudy, windy and warm to hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers, except in the west.

Free State

In Free State, Cloudy with morning fog patches in places over the central and eastern parts, otherwise partly cloudy, windy and warm to hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers, except in the west.

Northern Cape

The day will start fine in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and hot to very hot, becoming cloudy and foggy along the coast and over the Richtersveld municipality from the evening. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly, becoming light to moderate northerly to north-westerly from the afternoon.

Western Cape

Partly cloudy over the southern parts, otherwise fine and warm to hot, but very hot in places. It will be cool along the south coast and adjacent interior with light rain. The wind along the coast will be light and variable east of Cape Agulhas, becoming moderate to fresh southerly to south easterly from the afternoon, but moderate to fresh north-westerly north of Cape Columbine, otherwise fresh to strong south-easterly reaching gale at times near Cape Point.

The expected UVB sunburn index is Very High.

Eastern Cape

The Western half: Fine and hot to very hot, becoming partly cloudy and windy in places over the interior, with isolated thunderstorms over the northern parts. It will become cloudy along the coast in the evening with light rain in places. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly east of St Francis at first, otherwise light north-westerly, becoming moderate to fresh south-westerly in the afternoon.

The Eastern half: The day will start with morning fog in places at first, otherwise fine and hot to very hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated thunderstorms in the north and east. The wind along the coast will be light north easterly at first, otherwise moderate easterly.

KwaZulu-Natal

Morning fog patches, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly in the north, otherwise moderate to fresh north-easterly.
