Here’s the weather outlook for South Africa’s nine provinces.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued Yellow Level 2 warnings for severe thunderstorms over parts of the country. These storms could bring heavy downpours that may lead to localised flooding, along with excessive lightning, damaging winds and possible hail.

A. Yellow Level 2 Warning: severe thunderstorms associated with heavy downpours leading to localised flooding of susceptible roads, settlements and low-lying bridges/ areas, excessive lightning and large amounts of small hail are expected over North West, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo eastern parts of Free State as well as the western parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
FIRE DANGER WARNINGS
Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Kai! Garib local municipality and Francis Baard district in the Northern Cape.

Gauteng
Gauteng can expect partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thunder-showers.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index is High
Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga, the Place of the Rising Sun, can expect morning fog patches along the escarpment, with otherwise cloudy and cool to warm conditions, accompanied by scattered showers and thundershowers.
Limpopo
In Limpopo, cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in extreme north.
North West
North West, known as Bokone Bophirima in Setswana, can expect cloudy in the east in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the extreme south-west.
Free State
In Free State, cloudy in the east in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the east. No rain expected in the west.
Northern Cape
The day will start fine in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in places in the extreme north-east. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-westerly
Western Cape
Fine in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot, but very hot over the northern parts of the west coast. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to south-easterly.
The expected UVB sunburn index is Very High
Eastern Cape
The Western half: Cloudy with light rain along the coast in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-easterly.
The Eastern half: The day will start cloudy with scattered showers and rain along the coast and adjacent interior, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated thunder-showers in the north-east. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate easterly to north- easterly
KwaZulu-Natal
Morning and evening fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate easterly to north-easterly.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index is Low
