Here’s the weather outlook for South Africa’s nine provinces.
SAWS has issued a Level 2 Yellow warning as severe thunderstorms are expected to affect parts of South Africa, bringing intense lightning, heavy rainfall, localised flooding, large hail, and damaging winds, with potential risks to roads, low-lying areas, and small vessels along the coast.

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS
A. Yellow Level 2 Warning: Severe Thunderstorms leading to localised flooding of susceptible roads, settlements and low-lying bridges/areas are expected in places over the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape as well as the western parts of Free State. These conditions are expected to include excessive lightning and large amounts of small hail and/or large hail.
B. Yellow Level 2 Warning: Damaging winds and Waves leading to localised difficulty in navigation of small boats with a risk of some vessels taking on water and capsizing within locality is expected along the coast between Hamburg and Port Edward.
FIRE DANGER WARNINGS
Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over most of the Northern Cape and in places over the western parts of the Free State, northern parts of the Western Cape, as well as the western parts of the Eastern Cape.

Weather conditions and UVB forecast in South Africa’s provinces
Gauteng
Gauteng can expect partly cloudy and warm with afternoon isolated showers and thundershowers.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index is High
Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga, the Place of the Rising Sun, can expect morning fog patches over the Highveld, otherwise partly cloudy to cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers from the afternoon.
Limpopo
In Limpopo, morning fog patches over the central part, otherwise cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.
North West
North West, known as Bokone Bophirima in Setswana, can expect cloudy in the east, otherwise partly cloudy, windy and warm to hot with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.
Free State
In Free State, partly cloudy, windy and warm to hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered over the central and southern parts.
Northern Cape
The day will start fine, windy and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon with scattered showers and thundershowers in central and eastern parts. It will be cool along the coast. The wind along the coast will be light north-westerly, becoming moderate westerly in the afternoon.
Western Cape
Partly cloudy and warm to hot but very hot to extremely hot in places over the interior, mainly the eastern parts. The wind along the coast will be light easterly to south- easterly becoming fresh north-westerly in the west and south- west and south-westerly in the evening, but moderate south- easterly along the south coast.
The expected UVB sunburn index is Very High
Eastern Cape
The Western half: Warm in places along the coast, otherwise fine and hot to very hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north easterly.
The Eastern half: The day will start fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated thundershowers in the north. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north easterly.
KwaZulu-Natal
Morning fog over the interior, cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south easterly to easterly early morning, becoming moderate to fresh north- easterly from the south spreading northwards towards afternoon.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index is Moderate
