Here’s the weather outlook for South Africa’s nine provinces.
SAWS has issued a Level 2 Yellow warning as severe thunderstorms are set to bring intense lightning, disruptive downpours, localised flooding, and significant hail to parts of South Africa.

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS
A. Yellow Level 2 Warning: Severe Thunderstorms leading to localised flooding of susceptible roads, settlements and low-lying bridges/areas, excessive lightning and large amounts of small hail and/or large hail are expected in places over Gauteng, eastern parts of both the Free State and North West, Highveld and escarpment areas of Mpumalanga as well as Limpopo province excluding the Lowveld.
FIRE DANGER WARNINGS
Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over the Dikgatlong and Phokwane local municipality of the Northern Cape.

Gauteng
Gauteng can expect partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thunder- showers.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index is High
Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga, the Place of the Rising Sun, can expect cloudy in the east with morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers from the afternoon.
Limpopo
In Limpopo, cloudy in the east with morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with scattered showers and thundershowers from the afternoon but isolated in the extreme north.
North West
North West, known as Bokone Bophirima in Setswana, can expect partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers over the extreme south, otherwise scattered showers and thundershowers.
Free State
In Free State, partly cloudy and with isolated showers and thundershowers over the central parts, but scattered thundershowers in the east.
Northern Cape
The day will start fine and warm to hot, but partly cloudy over the northern parts. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly.
Western Cape
Cloudy and cool along the south coast and adjacent interior with light showers and rain in the south-east coast in the early morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot but very hot in places in the west where it will be fine. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.
The expected UVB sunburn index is Very High
Eastern Cape
The Western half: Partly cloudy in the north, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and rain in the morning. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-easterly, becoming fresh easterly in the afternoon.
The Eastern half: The day will start with morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and rain, but scattered in the north-east. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-easterly, becoming north-easterly in the afternoon.
KwaZulu-Natal
Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cold to cool but warm in the extreme north-east, with scattered showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be fresh southerly to south- easterly.
